RED Vintage IKEA Fran metal and vinyl wire shoe/wall rack/shelf Dutch Tornado Style. In this listing we are pleased to offer a great vintage metal wire wall rack or shelf from the nineties. Designed by an anonymous designer for IKEA's design team. The model was called Fran and has been out of production for well over two decades and is one of those great vintage IKEA misses. It would easily be in the top 100 of best IKEA designs of all times.
The Fran line consisted of this multi purpose two layer rack, a similar rack but with distinct coat hooks in the bottom part and separate coat hooks and was edited in red and black. This double layer wall rack is a multi purpose rack: you can use it in the kitchen to put pans on it, in your hallway for hats, shoes boxes, helmets. But also perfect in a bedroom or living room, to put plant pots on it or hang things on. The open wire structures allows for a lot of creativity.
The graphic design is amazing. It looks like the outer lines of a blueprint of a not yet completed work. Made from vinyl wrapped metal. It has a wonderful mid century Scandinavian modern vibe. The style is similar to some of the small furniture the Dutch company Tomado made in the 1960s.
It has four rings on the backside where it can be screwed to a wall. The rack is fully symmetrical and can be hung either way.
The rack is not signed but is a known young design classic. Height: 17 centimeters / 6.69 inches.
